|Dry/Wet Riser Servicing
Dry risers tend to be 'fit and forget' equipment that quickly fall into disrepair due to corrosion from the water that is always present within. They are also prone to neglect and vandalism so it is important to have them regularly maintained and inspected by a competent service team. It is a serious offence to fail to maintain dry/wet risers and hydrants as they could fail to function when needed.
BS9990:2015 recommends wet testing is carried out annually with an interim inspection at six months. Testing ensures that the dry riser system is in satisfactory condition so that all equipment is ready for immediate use in the event of fire.
