Fire Alarm Installation

Are sound levels adequate and providing a similar distinct sound?
Have you identified and provided appropriate fire detection e.g. heat detection in kitchens, smoke detection in corridors, etc?
Is the fire alarm system serviced quarterly/6 monthly by a competent person?
Have you nominated a responsible person within your organisation to conduct weekly testing and record the results in a Fire Log Book?

BS5839 part 1:2000 the British Standard for fire detection and fire alarm systems for buildings requires ‘adequate’ fire detection and warning equipment to be provided. Basically if word of mouth will not be heard then an air horn or rotary hand bell may be acceptable on small sites but many will now need to be protected with a manual system and in premises where there are sleeping occupants an automatic system will be required.

If in doubt give us a call.
